R-Jet Tek Offers New Canon Chip Resetter for InkJet Cartridge Refilling and Remanufacturing

Inkjet technology leaders R-Jet Tek announces a new Canon Chip Resetter for PGI-5 and CLI-8 Series Cartridges.

Cartridge designs increasingly contain integrated electronics that monitor ink levels and provide an on-screen message when the ink in the cartridge is empty.

The Canon PGI-5 and CLI-8 series cartridges are two such examples. The new Canon Chip Resetter allows you to completely restore the cartridge’s ink monitoring capability.

When refilled and installed in a printer, the cartridge will “read” full, and the end user will have use of the ink monitoring function. The new Canon Chip Resetter works on PGI-5 and CLI-8 cartridges, including the CLI-8 color cartridges.

Canon Cli-8 with chips ink cartridge

Well, it was bound to happen.

It has been three years since Canon introduced its CLI-8 ink tanks, but only a very limited number of third-party products have been available for these Canon SKUs due to the complex chip sets the tanks employ.

We are starting to see manfacturers providing the Canon CLi-8 cartridges with "chips".

Up until lately, the only available options available were for clients to use their old chips by removing them from their existing OEM cartridges.

Manufacturers who have announced their availablity so far are

First Ink Manufacturing Ltd
RICHENG

Remanufactured products are also available from

Office Depot

We'll let you know when we are carring compatible/remanufactured products in stock.

Canon Recycled Micro-chipped Cartridges

Canon Recycled Chipped Cartridges

The Third party markets have up until now not been able to supply any Canon Inkjet Products that contained Canon's 'Chip". Canon introduced approximately 2 years ago cartridges that contained a microchip that would indicate when the cartridge was out of ink and stop the printer from working.

Note: Epson has been doing this for years but compatible products have been readily available.

(Epson though has recently sued over 20 manufacturers for Patent infringement)

Third Party Market Resets Chip

According to a recently announced press release it is now possible to Reset Canon's chip allowing for manufacturers to refill these cartridge and reset the chip. This in effect allows them to remarket used cartridges with full functionality (The Same as a New Cartridge).

PIXMA and MP Series

The cartridges in question are the PGI-5, CLI-8BK, CLI-8C, CLI-8M and CLI-8Y used in many Canon PIXMA iP and MP series printers.

Product Availability

Forecasts are the have these remanufactured cartridges available by the end of May 2007.

Open Market

As these cartridges are original (remanufactured Cartridges) there is no chance of patent infringement as they are not reproduced, just recycled products.
