Making your own Greeting Cards

Greeting Cards made easy

We have all seen kit that you can purchase for making greeting cards.
They typically contain some thicker double sided paper and envelopes.

2 Steps to saving time and Money

Rather than buying a Greeting Card kit, just go to your local "Paper Supply Store" and purchase some Double sided Paper (Make sure it resembles a greeting card feel).

The next one is a little more difficult as not every store carries this size card

A9 5 3/4" x 8 3/4"

This size is perfectly matched to allow you to fold an 8 1/2 x 11" paper and have it fit...

Can't find Size A9 cards

Go to your local card shop and ask them if they have any spare A9 size cards..
They will most likely open a large box and offer you your choice of Color(s)

Making your Card

The simple way to make a card is to use a standard word editor program.
The key to making it simple is to set the correct margin to exactly half of the paper width.

If you want a card that opens (Left to Right) you need to set your printer to be printing in Landscape mode with the left margin set to 5.5 inches.

If you want a card that opens bottom to top, you need to set your printer to Portrait mode and set the top margin to 5.5 inches.

Make you car to fit within the display page and your off....

You can use 2 separate files (1 inside, 1 outside) or one file with 2 pages and print a single page at a time remembering to flip the card after finishing the first side.

Adding Photos

Most word processors will allow you to drag and drop photos on to the word processor and resize the photo to fit the page.

Getting Fancy

If you want to emboss your own lettering on the Photos you'll meet a photo editing software program, that will allow you to select a font, size and color to finish off the print.
